FAQ*

What’s ColorToy for?
ColorToy 2.0 is for mostly for fun! But you may use it for serious projects.
How do I use it?
There are three ways to use ColorToy.

  1. Enter a RGB value. e.g. 211,21,52 and hit “Submit RGB”. ColorToy 2.0 will then generate your complementary color scheme.
  2. Enter a HEX value e.g. #c0ffee (see what I did there?) and hit “Submit Hex”. ColorToy 2.0 will then generate your complementary color scheme based on your HEX value.
  3. If you’re feeling a little frisky and in need of a quick color fix then “Random” is your bestest buddy. Hitting “Random” will, well, generate a random color and associated complementary color scheme. Go on, give it a click.

Note: “Random” can generate some truly beautiful colors. It can also generate some horrific colors. It’s the luck of the draw.

Can I use the color schemes in a commercial project?
Sure, how the hell can I stop you! ;-)
You spelt colour wrong!
Well, yes and no. While I would, as a UK citizen, spell color as colour, ColorToy is written in Actionscript. In Actionscript the Color object, which the toy uses a lot, is spelt c o l o r. Color is also the way the Americans spell it, and there are more of them than there is of me!
Can I give you a donation for creating this awesome Color tool?
Whilst I’m more than happy for everybody to use the Color Toy for free, if you happen to feel like you’d like to throw me a pound(or whatever amount you’d like) for my troubles then I’d appreciate that very much! I’m currently saving up for a Drobo and any financial help would be appreciated.
